General Position Summary:

The Human Resource Coordinator helps the Habitat team handle our valuable human assets with sound human resource principles, practices, and procedures, and payroll administration.

Core Responsibilities:

List major actions performed in the job. Describes what occurs and the reason the action is taken.  Regular and predictable attendance is a required function of this position.

Human Resources (Employees and CNCS Members)

  1. Assist managers in the hiring process by coordinating job postings, reviewing resumes, performing telephone interviews and reference checks
  2. Create and oversee on-boarding process and orientation
  3. Create and maintain employee personnel files and member files
  4. Assist in the development, implementation and communication of personnel and member policies and procedures and update handbooks
  5. Assist with employee and member relations issues and counseling including conducting investigations of personnel issues or complaints
  6. Oversee performance management process
  7. Assist in identifying and coordinating organizational training sessions

CNCS Program Oversight

  1. Oversee the various Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) program relationships including State AmeriCorps, National AmeriCorps and VISTA with HFHI, AmeriCorps NCCC, and other related long term volunteer programs.  Oversight will include contract coordination, periodic reporting, and ensuring supervisors are performing their required tasks.  

Benefits Administration

  1. Oversee the administration of employee benefit plans. This includes adding new employees, processing changes, terminations, overseeing open enrollment periods, and reporting information as needed with third-party providers.
  2. Process employee benefit changes and workers compensation claims in a timely manner.
  3. Assist in the evaluation of new benefit offerings.

Payroll Administration

  1. Oversee the administration of the payroll system. This includes adding new employees, entering withholding and reimbursement data, updating base pay, etc.
  2. Process bi-monthly payroll for direct deposit ensuring data is accurate and on-time
  3. Maintain payroll records and files

Other

  1. Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations
  2. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Describes the minimum education and experience, certifications, licenses, physical demands, working conditions and skill sets needed to perform the job

  • Bachelor’s degree Human Resources Management or related field.
  • 2-3 years of direct experience in Human Resources.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail and have an organized workflow
  • Training skills a plus

General Position Summary:

A ReStore Associate helps process donations, load and unload items, and assist customers as needed.  Tasks include cleaning, pricing, stocking, and rearranging items, in addition to providing friendly customer service at all times.  Works to ensure that customers and donors have a positive experience at the ReStore; this includes providing friendly customer service, assisting in loading purchases and unlading donations, operating the cash register, cleaning/organizing/arranging displays, and pricing items.

  1. Build and maintain positive relationships with customers by providing high-quality customer service
  2. Answer customer questions regarding the ReStore in general and specific items
  3. Ensure that all areas of the store/warehouse are safe, clean, and organized
  4. Guard against theft and unsafe practices (clutter, tripping hazards, falling objects, etc.)
  5. Operate cash register to ring up customers
  6. Assist with the receiving of inventory
  7. Assist Customers with purchases – lifting, carrying and loading
  8. Move materials from warehouse to store floor

General Position Summary:  The ReStore Volunteer Manager leads the efforts of the volunteer program within the ReStore. The Volunteer Manager sets the stage for an excellent volunteer experience by overseeing the recruitment, scheduling, processing, training, retention and recognition of ReStore volunteers and ensures that the ReStore’s volunteer needs are met.  The ReStore Volunteer Manager works closely with the Volunteer Service Team and the Habitat Volunteer Manager to carry out the volunteer program in the ReStore. 

Core Responsibilities:

 

1.   Meet the ReStore’s volunteer needs through a proactive approach to recruiting, as well as developing and implementing effective strategies and processes

  • Identify ongoing volunteer needs for the ReStore effectively recruit and schedule volunteers to meet these needs
  • Ensure the creation of various ‘sweat equity’ opportunities for Habitat homebuyer families
  • Oversee the utilization of online registration tools, e-newsletters, website and the development of other methods for efficient and effective communication and scheduling of all individuals, groups and community service individuals
  • Create and maintain job descriptions for ReStore volunteer roles
  • Oversee coordination of activities for youth volunteers
  • Seek outreach opportunities and represent Habitat at community and volunteer recruitment events in order to meet annual and day-to-day recruitment goals

2.  Connect volunteers to the organization’s mission and set the stage for an excellent volunteer experience

  • Collaborate with Outreach Manager to create and update volunteer information and outreach materials
  • Oversee the management of volunteer expectations prior to their workday as well as onsite registration and orientation (‘Meet and Greet’) of volunteers
  • Initiate affiliate orientations for all long-term volunteers and visiting volunteer groups
  • Seek and measure volunteer feedback, utilizing information gathered to address volunteer issues and concerns
  • Plan volunteer appreciation events and opportunities for special recognition of key volunteers
  • Ensure that information about the families we serve is available at the ReStore
  • Develop and implement additional ways to strengthen volunteers’ connection to Habitat’s mission

3. Collect and manage volunteer records

  • Ensure collection and timely entry of volunteer information, maintaining volunteer records, paperwork and statistics
  • Oversee management of and record keeping for both court-ordered and school-sponsored community service individuals

Requirements:

  • Has earned a Bachelor’s Degree and has at least 3-years leadership experience in Volunteer Management or related field; event management experience a plus
  • Personal experience as a volunteer
  • Demonstrates the ability to use commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
  • Must meet or exceed the ability to demonstrate the 7 values outlined below.

General Position Summary:

The Donor Relations Manager supports Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity by building relationships with corporate (retailers, manufacture, wholesalers, builders, contractors, etc.) donors.  The result of this work is Gift in Kind donations that support Habitat’s ReStore.  The Donor Relations Manager  also supervises the donations team to ensure that we meet our donation goals and our donors have a positive donation experience. 

Core Responsibilities:

List major actions performed in the job. Describes what occurs and the reason the action is taken.  Regular and predictable attendance is a required function of this position.

  1. Supervise donation team members;  Donations Coordinator, Driver and Driver Assistant.
  2. Build and maintain positive relationships with donors ,volunteers, customers and community organizations
  3. Develop team and individual goals for ReStore donations.
  4. Identify and cultivate potential gift in kind donors
  5. Solicit donations of materials and services from new and past donors
  6. Ensure appropriate follow-up with donors, including donor recognition and appreciation
  7. Manage donor record keeping system
  8. Assist with ReStore marketing events and projects as necessary
  9. Facilitate and monitor online sales
  10. Coordinate deconstruction projects, including dates, tools, and people        

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience
  • College degree or 4 years relevant experience required;
  • Experience in Fund Development, research of prospects, solicitation of gifts and post follow up
  • Ability to schedule and coordinate multiple projects with volunteers and staff
  • Good and accurate planning, organization, email, and office software skills (particularly MS Word, Access and Excel) are critical to success in this position
  • Great track record of providing excellent customer service
  • Willingness to work with staff and volunteers of all backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision 
  • Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of building materials and residential construction processes are helpful but not required
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and have a valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrates the ability to use commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
  • Must meet or exceed the ability to demonstrate the 7 values outlined below.
  • Convey clear, concise information to others, using verbal or other appropriate communication techniques.
  • Complete formal training plan and assignments as required.

  6. Coordinate with ReStore staff to schedule customer deliveries of purchased items.
  7. Communicate with ReStore drivers about the days schedule and special instructions.
  8. Establish daily truck routes for ReStore Drivers using specialized software.
  9. Assist with ReStore marketing events and projects as necessary.   

 

Requirements:
